What is the process for creating a website?

1. First we will message back and forth on Upwork to make sure we understand each other. We can also do a video call for this.

2. Once we have a contract, I will send you a form to help you with organizing the content for your website. This form helps you think through your ideal client and what problem they have that your business solves. You'll be able to upload images to the form and example websites you like.

3. From our conversations and the content in your form, I will create a draft of your website. This usually takes one day.

4. I'll send you a draft of your website (if you're a fixed price client, you'll hit a milestone here). You'll suggest changes, as many as you need, and I'll make them. I want your website to be perfect for you and your business!

5. Once we've gotten your website just how you want it, I'll optimize the images, add SEO, and connect it to your domain. Your website is finished!

Are there any hidden fees?
The fee that you pay for a website designer will be paid through Upwork. You'll also have to pay for a domain and website hosting. A domain is around $20/year (paid to GoDaddy or your website host) and website hosting is usually $144/year (paid to Weebly) or $204/year (paid to Wix). In addition, you might want to pay for stock photos or apps to add functionality to your website. This will be determine on a case-by-case basis.

What website platform do you use?
For the past 6-7 years, I've used Weebly to create all my websites. Most of the websites in my portfolio are Weebly websites. This website was built on Wix though. And I've created one website in Squarespace.

How long will it take?
It's mostly up to you. It depends on how long it takes you to get initial information to me and then how long it takes you to get additional information and revisions. On my end I'm really quick.

What if I don't like it?
I will make the changes that you need so you'll be happy. Your feedback is very important to me! I want you to be a happy customer with a great website.

What if I want to make changes to my website later?
Come back to my profile on Upwork and hire me at an hourly rate to make changes to your website.

Do you create custom graphics?
I am not a graphic designer, however I can create simple graphics in Canva. I know some other freelance graphic designers on Upwork that I can recommend if you need something special done.

Do I come up with the wording or do you?
Basically you have to come up with the main gist of your website, because you know your business best. But I'll be keeping an eye on it to make sure it is clear and speaks to your ideal customer. I'll make suggestions along the way.

I'm not techy. Will I be able to maintain my website once you're done?
Yes! Weebly is perfect for people who aren't techy. You can easily change text and images. I will teach you how to update your blog (if you have one). And if you want something done that you can't do, come back to Upwork and hire me on an hourly basis to help. Most updates can be done in a couple hours.

How will people find my website?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Weebly and Wix contain fields that I'll fill out that will help your website be found through Google. It also helps to make sure your website is clear, readable, and informative. Google wants to answer the questions people are asking and if your website does that, it helps you be found in search.
